Meet Rebecca
Rebecca Anstine Smith has enjoyed a distinguished career as a professional harpist and teacher for over 25 years.
Currently Rebecca takes great joy in providing affordable harp lessons to students of all ages and levels.
Mrs. Smith holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in music and in French, magna cum laude, with departmental honors in music.
Upon graduation, Rebecca studied with Jeanne Chalifoux at the Peabody Conservatory. There she received the Master of Music degree in harp performance.
For many summers Rebecca studied with Alice Chalifoux at the Salzedo Summer Harp Colony in Camden, Maine. She also studied at Tanglewood with Lucile Lawrence.
Rebecca teaching credits include, Howard University, the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, and the George Washington University. Currently she teaches at the University of Maryland, College Park and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
In the summer of 2008, she recorded Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with the Washington National Cathedral Girl’s Choir.
Rebecca has presented workshops and Master Classes in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia. Now she has turned her attention a little closer to home, offering harp lessons at her home in Crofton and in Kent Island.
